2017-2018 School Year

The Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools will open at 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6.  Classes will dismiss at 3:30 p.m. for both high school and elementary.  There will be a social for Kindergarten students on Tuesday, August 30th at 6:00 p.m.  It will be followed by a 7th grade and new student orientation at 6:30 p.m.  Students in grades 8-12 may pick up their class schedules beginning on Monday, August 29th, and 7th grade students will receive their schedules at Orientation.  Mr. Kentala will be at the school to assist with any schedule changes August 29th-September 1st.

On the first day of school, elementary students (K-6) will go to their classrooms and high school students will to report to the auditorium.

DB-TC Area Schools encourages families to access the website regularly as all pertinent information will be posted on the website.

The hot lunch and breakfast programs will be available beginning with the first day of school, September 6.   Breakfast is served daily from 7:35-8:20 a.m.  Free or reduced price lunches and breakfasts are available to families qualifying under federal government guidelines.  Applications and guidelines will be distributed to all students the first day of school, along with other important information.

Elementary Staff - Jamie Mack, Kindergarten; Kristy Heinonen, First Grade; Kristen Kariainen, Second Grade; Marissa Kentala, Third Grade; Carrie Meneguzzo, Fourth Grade; Kevin Butler, Fifth Grade; Emily Viola, Sixth Grade; and Jennifer Strand, Librarian.

High School Staff - Matt Zimmer, Math, Science; Cathy Hill, Social Studies, Math; Jesse Kentala, Counselor, English; Dan Juopperi, Physical Education; Michael Goldsworthy, Industrial Technology; Robert Strieter, Elementary and Secondary Music; Bill O'Connor, Business, Technology; Mary Rautio, English; Jenny-Meade Butler, Math, Chemistry; Sara Moilanen, Biology, Science; Kim Peltier, Social Studies 7 & 8, elementary computers, and 3rd grade Science; Andrea Raasio, Special Education; and Jade Babcock, Spanish, Art.

Additional support staff are Brian Nordmark, Cindy Goudge and Terry Lanouette, Custodians; Carole Marcol, Food Service; Aaron Haapala, Dale Junkin, Chuck Johnson, and Brian Nordmark, Bus Drivers; Katie Laplander, Rae Lamanen, and Stefanie Wuebben, Paraprofessionals.

The bus schedules will be posted on our website at dollarbay.k12.mi.us when they have been finalized.
