Keeping it Positive
DB-TC uses the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) approach for student behavior management. Our goals are to improve school climate and maximize academic achievement. We work to accomplish these goals by setting behavioral expectations in the classroom and the rest of the school. Students are encouraged through rewards and incentives and specific verbal acknowledgement when they demonstrate expected behaviors. When other students see a friend recognized for great behavior, they tend to want to do the right thing, too. And, research shows that teaching positively shapes behavior long-term more than any other method.
-In the K-6th grade, our school expectations are organized under the acronym SPARK
-In the 7th-12th grade, our school expectations fit under the acronym BOLTS
